Living My Dream
For approximately five years I have wanted to purchase a 13 foot Serro Scotty. It's a very specific brand of camper. I want to be able to live in it, go on comedy tours, and create a YouTube channel about it. There aren't a lot of them for sale in America... especially ones in decent condition. I've spent years obsessively watching videos about everything that can go wrong and how to fix them.
A couple of days ago I found an ad on craigslist for the one in the picture. Instantly, I knew it had to be mine. It was approximately 2 and a half hours away from where I currently live. I took someone with me who is an expert negotiator. We went, and I checked everything out. The frame and metal siding all looked, to me, to be in excellent condition. The interior had the typical dry rot you'd expect. The owner said he had the camper rewired, and that it has new tires and bearings. So, we agreed on a price, but because it was a Saturday, the DMV was closed. I'm going back out there on Wednesday to make the camper mine. I can not be more excited!
One of the things I want to do is make a very honest YouTube channel about my life, and about the process of rehabbing the camper. Most of the videos on YouTube aren't instructional. They don't break down the details of renovation, costs, and all the little problems that I am certain I will encounter along the way.
This camper is from 1963. It is the most beautiful thing I have ever seen. I found someone who is willing to let me store it on their property for $60 a month, about an hour away from where I live.
I am really, really, really looking forward to this! It's my dream-come-true!!!
